The South Bronx community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of one of its most celebrated athletes, Jordan Agyemang, who tragically passed away yesterday.
A beloved alumnus of South Bronx Prep Hoops (SBP), Jordan was more than just a gifted basketball player—he was a vibrant spirit, a relentless worker, and a role model to many who knew him both on and off the court.
Jordan made a name for himself at South Bronx Prep, where he left an indelible mark as a 1,500-point career scorer. His outstanding performance and leadership were instrumental in SBP’s unforgettable New York City PSAL “B” Division City Championship run in 2019.
With his explosive athleticism and high-flying dunks, Jordan brought energy and excitement to every game, often leaving fans and coaches in awe. But it wasn’t just his raw talent that set him apart—it was his drive, humility, and positive outlook that made him a true standout.
Following his stellar high school career, Jordan continued his basketball journey at the collegiate level. From 2019 to 2022, he played for Clarion College in Pennsylvania, where he continued to develop his skills, earn the respect of teammates and coaches, and represent his hometown with pride.
His commitment to excellence eventually led him to Keiser University in Florida, where he furthered his education and basketball career. At each stop along the way, Jordan earned praise for his work ethic, sportsmanship, and the way he carried himself—with dignity, confidence, and grace.
Friends, former teammates, and coaches remember Jordan as someone who uplifted those around him. He was known not only for his ability to play above the rim but also for his down-to-earth nature and infectious smile. Whether in practice, during a tough game, or just hanging out in the gym, Jordan brought a sense of joy and camaraderie that inspired others to be better—on and off the court.
“He was the kind of teammate every player hopes to have,” said one former coach. “Jordan never gave up, never stopped working, and always had a kind word for the next guy. His presence made our program stronger, and his legacy will live on through everyone he touched.”
As news of Jordan’s passing spread, tributes began to pour in from every corner of the basketball world—from New York City high school hoops to college programs in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Former teammates shared heartfelt memories, recalling locker room moments, post-game celebrations, and the determination that made Jordan a true competitor. Coaches spoke of his leadership and his ability to push others to be their best. Fans remembered his highlight-reel plays and the unforgettable energy he brought to every game.
The South Bronx Prep community is especially shaken by the loss. For many students and younger players, Jordan was a symbol of what was possible through dedication and passion. He embodied the spirit of the school and left behind a legacy that younger generations will look up to for years to come.
As his family, friends, and former teammates grieve, the community has come together to honor Jordan’s memory. Plans are underway for a memorial to be held in his honor, and his former schools are organizing tributes to celebrate his life and contributions.
Candles, flowers, and handwritten notes now surround the South Bronx Prep gym, a place Jordan once called home, filled with the echoes of his talent and determination.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Agyemang family, his friends, his former teammates, and all those in the SBP and basketball communities who were touched by his life. Jordan Agyemang’s story is one of perseverance, heart, and inspiration—a legacy that will never be forgotten.
